etrailer Class III Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Dodge Journey- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we are installing the etrailer.com Class 3 trailer hitch receiver on a 2019 Dodge Journey. So one of the things you'll first notice while looking at the hitch installed is the fact that it is an exposed cross tube, which simply means that you can actually see the hitch portion hanging down below the fascia. And overall it does look pretty good with its nice black powder coat finish and that's going to keep it nice and sturdy and robust and also hold up to the weather over time. One other thing you're going to notice is the two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver opening and this is going to be great for a number of different accessories. Your two inch by two inch is the most common for your bike cracks, cargo carriers, ball mounts whatever it may be. more

Today on our 2018 Dodge Journey, we're going to be taking a look at it and showing you how to install the CURT Class 3 2-Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver.Now one of the things that separates this hitch from some of the others, is that it's going to be a little more visible. But however, there is an upside of that, and that's going to be a little more user-friendly, it's going to be easier to use. It's going to take less effort to get any of our accessories connected or disconnected. Since this is a class 3 hitch, it's going to have the two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, and it's also going to have a reinforced collar for a little extra strength. It's also going to have a 5/8" size pin hole, which does accept the standard 5/8" pin and clip, which does not come included. more

Today on our 2016 Dodge Journey, you're going to be taking a look at, and we're going to show you how to install the eTrailer Class III custom fit trailer hitch receiver. So here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it fully installed. It's going to sit right below the bumper, and it's going to give us a 2" receiver tube opening, so we're going to have a really wide variety of options when we mount up any kind of accessories.Now, the way we're going to mount any of those accessories is to the hitch pin hole here on the side, and it is going to accept a standard 5/8 pin and clip. Now these aren't included in the kit, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to keep your accessories secure. Now if you plan on doing some towing, the safety chain connection point is going to be a plate style, welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. You can see we'll have plenty of room to get most sized hooks on or off.Now as far as weight capacity, our hitch is going to have a 400 pound tongue weight, which is going to be the maximum downward force to the receiver tube, along with a 4,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. more

As far as recreational use goes, we found the Draw-Tite hitch that's hidden behind the fascia to be the winner here because it does offer the most ground clearance and the hitch pin hole is the furthest away from the back bumper.As far as towing goes, we found the Draw-Tite hitch which is visible underneath the bumper to be the winner here because it does support the use of weight distribution and it does have the additional mounting bracket already included on it. It's one less thing we have to worry about purchasing. more

Here's what the hitch looks like installed.What's great about this hitch is that we have plenty of clearance around the receiver, so it makes this a great hitch to use with bike racks and cargo carriers. We don't have to worry about any interference with the rear fascia, and we run much less of a risk of scratching it as we're installing our accessory.Now this hitch fits nicely around our spare tire, so we can still use our spare tire if needed, without having any interference from the hitch.Compared to some other options out there, this hitch also doesn't require any cutting or trimming of the rear fascia in order for it to fit. Here's what our hitch looks like on our vehicle. It has a nice, round tube design and contours with the shape of our vehicle. It's going to be an inch and a quarter by an inch and a quarter class two hitch. It's going to give you a half inch hitch pin hole and a nice flat plate design for your safety chains. As you can see, this hitch doesn't stick out past the bumper, so you wouldn't have to worry about hitting your knees or your shins. more

Today in our 2016 Dodge Journey we'll be installing a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class 3, part number C13201. As you can see it's a nice clean look, has this nice angular design to give us plenty of drop so we don't have any clearance issues when we're inserting accessories into our hitch, don't want to worry about anything hitting our bumper cover here. This hitch has a 400 lb max gross tongue weight rating and a 4,000 lb max gross trailer weight rating. It does support the use of weight distribution but those numbers stay the same, they do not increase at all. You may notice this hitch has a nice welded on collar at the end of it to give it a nice finished look and add a little bit of reinforcement to it. We have these angular plates for our safety chain welded on the bottom of our receiver. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Dodge Journey - Curt- Video
Today on our 2006 Dodge Journey we will be installing a Curt class 2 inch and a quarter trailer hitch receiver. Part number C12134. As you can see, very little that hangs down below our vehicle. Just a little bit of the frame, the class 2 inch and a quarter receiver itself, our safety chain loops which are right at the bottom of it here on this angular plate. Now, these are kind of small, so if you have some large safety chain loops on your trailer you may need to change the hook out to something that's a little bit smaller to fit inside of here. You see our receiver has this nice collar welded around it to give it a nice finished look and give it a little bit more reinforcement. On the side of our receiver we have our industry standard half inch diameter hitch pin hole. Now, this hitch has a 350 pound tongue weight rating, and a 3,500 pound max gross trailer weight rating. more

Today on our 2016 Dodge Journey we will be installing the Draw-tite Max Frame Class III trailer hitch receiver, part number 75648. Here is what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it tucks up nicely underneath our vehicle, doesn't hang down an excessive amount. We have plenty of room around our spare tire here to lower it down without having to get a weird angle to when we put it back up. It is a nice feature. Some other ones sit above it a little bit, this one doesn't. This hitch has a nice gloss black powder coat finish that blends in nicely with our vehicle. It looks like it was there from the factory. more

Today on our 2014 Dodge Journey we're going to be taking a look at and selling the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver class III. Part number C13201. This is what it looks like once it's installed, you can see it's going to fit pretty flush under the bottom so that our bumper as a bit of a spare tire here. Still leaving enough room for your to drop your spare out of there. It's got a nice black powder coated finish that's going to make it look nice from the back of the vehicle and keep it from rusting and corroding. It's got a large flat style safety chain loopholes. It's going to accommodate most of your safety chains that are out there. more

You have this nice round tubular frame here. So we have our standard 1 1/4 opening here on the receiver. We have this 1/2 inch diameter pinhole here for installing your pin or your locking device to secure your ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Journey we're going to review and install the CURT class two 1-1/4" receiver tube hitch, part number C12134. Here's what our hitch is going to look like once installed. As you can see, hangs down below the rear fascia. It's got a nice round crosstube design and a fully welded steel construction, which chain hold downs on either side of our receiver tube. Going all the way through our receiver tube is also a pre-drilled 1/2" hole for your hitch pin. Then we've got a 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube for this class two hitch. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Journey we're going to review and install the CURT class three 2" receiver tube hitch, part number C13201. Here's what our hitch is going to look like once installed. As you can see, not a lot of the hitch is hidden but it is tucked up under the vehicle nicely. We've got a round crosstube that goes into our fully welded constructed receiver tube. The whole thing has a nice black powder-coated finish so it hides with the underbody of the vehicle. We've got our chain hold down on either side of the 2" by 2" receiver tube. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2013 Dodge Journey - Curt- Video
Today on our 2013 Dodge Journey we're going to take a look at and then show you how to install the CURT custom fit class three 2" trailer hitch receiver, part number C13201. As you can see, our CURT custom fit hitch is going to have a nice look to it. All of our attachment hardware, all of the connections are up here out of the way where we can't see them. We're just going to have the drop bar that comes down and around, tucks back in over here on this same side. No modifications of the vehicle that are really required. As you can see, it's going to go right underneath the spare tire here so we're not going to have to worry about any kind of interference there. The end of the tube is just inside the outer edge of the bumper; it sits in about a 1/4" or so so it's not hanging out so far to where you might hit your leg or bumps might on it, and it's not tucked in so far where it really eliminates a lot of options as far as bike rack's or carriers might be concerned. more

With the hitch installed, we'll go ahead and give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper here, comes out to about 2-1/2". From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is about 14-1/4". Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Dodge Journey - Curt- Video
Today on our 2010 Dodge Journey, we'll be installing the Curt Hitch, part number 12335. First, before we can install the hitch, we'll need to go ahead and lower the exhaust. Before we do that, we'll go ahead and put a safety strap underneath so we can control how far and fast the exhaust will fall. Now with our safety strap secured, we can go ahead and remove the ground strap between the frame and the exhaust hanger on the muffler on the passenger's side. Next, we'll go ahead and take some spray lubricant and spray down each one of the rubber isolators that connect the exhaust the hangers. There are a total of three on each side. more
